A Few of Our Projects:

  • Advanced Components for Medical Robotics

In the years 2022–2023, ZAKŁAD MECHANIKI MASZYN “BUKPOL” ŁAGODZIŃSKI SPÓŁKA JAWNA carried out a project entitled: Launch of the production of surgical robot and medical navigation components based on an innovative broaching technology on CNC machining centers, resulting from the company’s own R&D work.

The aim of the project was to implement the results of the company’s in-house research, constituting unpatented technical know-how, and to launch production of new products based on this knowledge. These products included ultra-precise components for surgical robots and medical navigation systems with elements of +/- 7 μm tolerance and Rz 3.2 surface roughness, manufactured using innovative broaching technology.

The launch of new product manufacturing required the purchase of the following production equipment and software:

  • 5-axis milling center
  • 4-axis milling center
  • Measuring machine
  • Laser welder
  • Software for real-time processing of measurement results from the measuring machine into parameters defining production process stability

The implementation of this project strengthened the company’s competitive position in the international market.

  • Production of innovative medical devices.

In 2023, ZAKŁAD MECHANIKI MASZYN “BUKPOL” ŁAGODZIŃSKI SPÓŁKA JAWNA implemented a project entitled: Gaining a competitive advantage through the launch of innovative medical device production based on R&D results in the field of CNC machining technologies.

The aim of the project was to implement the company’s in-house research results, consisting of unpatented technical know-how and partially covered by a patent application, and to launch the production of new products based on this knowledge. These products were two surgical table accessories, functioning together as a so-called “third hand” in the operating room, providing stable support that frees surgical staff for other tasks. The versatile arm can be easily attached to the side rail of the operating table and is ready for immediate use. A specially designed adapter allows a range of accessories to be connected to the arm, making the system flexible for multiple surgical interventions.

The launch of new product manufacturing required the purchase of the following production equipment and software:

  • Lathe with full 4th axis
  • 4-axis horizontal milling center
  • 5-axis milling center
  • Software for generating QR codes

The implementation of this project strengthened the company’s competitive position in the international market.

  • Transformation Towards Industry 4.0

Bukpol has received funding from the European Union for the project “Implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in the subtractive machining of medical products.” The project is being implemented to strengthen the company’s competitiveness through digitalization, automation, and robotization.

As part of the project, we will purchase, install, and implement solutions in line with Industry 4.0, including:

  • an automated robotic pallet changer for a CNC machine,
  • software for optimizing the production process and maintenance, operating on artificial intelligence algorithms.

The project will benefit employees involved in production processes as well as those managing production at Bukpol.

Project outcomes:

At Bukpol, a new business model will be created, based on a digital supply chain, where modern digital technologies (IIoT, data analysis, artificial intelligence) will improve and optimize production-related processes, including:

  • integration of data collected from machine tools (and the robot) into one software platform, enabling full visibility of the production process,
  • IIoT technology enabling real-time monitoring of machine and product conditions, allowing rapid responses to potential problems and delays,
  • the use of artificial intelligence and data analysis to automate production planning and recommended maintenance tasks, preventing failures and downtime,
  • monitoring and reducing environmental impact by optimizing energy and raw material consumption and tracking ecological aspects of production.

  • Industry 4.0 Transformation – Phase II

Bukpol has received funding from the European Union for the project titled “Implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in subtractive manufacturing of medical products – Phase II.”

The objective and scope of the project is the second stage of Bukpol’s transformation towards Industry 4.0 through comprehensive digitalization, automation, and robotization of production processes.

As part of the project, we will purchase, install, and commission:

  • 2 automated robotic pallet changers for CNC machine tools,
  • an AI-based production planning system,
  • a secure router with integrated cybersecurity systems.

The project will benefit employees involved in production processes as well as production management staff at Bukpol.

Project outcomes

  • increased efficiency of the machining process for medical components (pallet changers will reduce pallet exchange time after each operation from 8 / 3.5 / 2.5 minutes to just 8.5 seconds and enable unattended machine operation),
  • reduced risk of human error by eliminating manual pallet changes,
  • lower labor costs related to machine operator activities,
  • process optimization through the implementation of an advanced production planning system,
  • enhanced cybersecurity of digital resources.

  • Competitiveness and Innovation Are Our Priority

Bukpol has received funding from the European Union for the project titled “Achieving a competitive advantage through the implementation of low-temperature machining technology for stainless steel components dedicated to the medical sector.”

The main objective of the project is to strengthen Bukpol’s competitiveness and innovation by implementing the results of R&D activities related to low-temperature machining technology for stainless steel components used in the medical industry.

As part of the project, we will purchase, install, and commission:

  • a 4-axis horizontal machining center with a spindle speed of at least 12,000 rpm,
  • a high-precision 4-axis machining center with a spindle speed of at least 10,000 rpm.

The project will benefit employees involved in production processes as well as production management staff at Bukpol.

Project outcomes

  • launch of production of new products, including components for a robotic surgical operating table,
  • implementation of an innovative machining fixture for small stainless steel parts processed at reduced temperatures, featuring a cold-air cooling system and extended-life cutting tools,
  • cost optimization and revenue growth,
  • reduced environmental impact of manufacturing processes.
